This studio maternity session in The Heights is just one of many that remind me why I love my job so much. I am fortunate enough to be able to document a variety of sessions. And as much as I love them all, it’s safe to say that studio maternity sessions are my favorite. There’s just something about being able to slow down and push my creativity in a way that allows me to document the miracle of pregnancy.

If you missed it, I shared three reasons why an outdoor maternity session may be best for your family last week. They truly are beautiful and I love the colors (especially at sunset!) and candid moments with your family. But, from the moment I started Fresh Light Photography 10 years ago, I fell in love with the simplicity and elegance of studio maternity sessions and still do today.

Here are three reasons to consider a studio maternity session in The Heights in our beautiful natural light studio!

Climate Controlled

The studio is climate controlled and there is no concern for heat or having to reschedule due to rain. This is particularly important when you’re pregnant and also if you have little ones. The more comfortable your family is the better expereince you’ll have.

Quiet and Fewer Distractions

Although the outdoor locations I use are not usually crowded, I love the more quiet, intimate feeling of the studio. It’s a slower pace and smaller setting, which allows for more connection and creativity. Again, this is really important when you have smaller children. There tends to be fewer distractions in the studio and space for you to snuggle up if they need extra support.

Family + Intimate Portraits

When people think about the studio, they often think of either really traditional posed photos or lack of variety. That couldn’t be further from the truth though. In fact, I am able to get more variety in the studio. We will start with family photos and make sure to document your family as it is now, but then the focus becomes on mom and baby.

For a lot of women, this is also the perfect space and time for intimate boudoir maternity photos. This season is fleeting. Being able to embrace and have documented all that your body has done for you, is so special. Right now it’s just the two of you and while you may have one on one time as they grow up, it will never be quite like this. There truly is nothing like carrying your baby, growing and nurturing them.

If you need a little more inspiration, here’s a studio maternity session that encompasses all the things I love!

I absolutely adore the Kim family. They are getting ready to welcome a new baby and mom wanted a studio maternity session to document them as a family of three one last time. She wanted a mix of family photos with her husband and son and then some boudoir-inspired images too. The studio was the perfect place to be able to do both.

Mom chose a dress and intimate pieces from the studio wardrobe and then had a chance to get pampered by our hair and makeup artist. All of this happens right here in the studio, making it all stress-free and easy on all!

If you’re at all interested in a studio maternity session, be sure to contact us. We recommend booking your maternity session between 30-34 weeks and already booking into the winter months.
