I think the next best thing to tiny baby toes may be their gummy little smiles. Dylan was recently in the studio for her 6-month sitter session and she was just the happiest little girl! It feels like we were just photographing her newborn session. But it’s true, babies don’t keep and that’s why photographing these milestones throughout their first year is SO important.
Mom and Dad really wanted to document Dylan’s happy spirit and big sister, Keira’s, playfulness with her. I actually photographed Keira’s first year too, so to be able to see her step into her role as a big sister and now document her baby sister’s first year is really special. We are growing a gallery wall in their living room with pictures from both girls’ first year (and other family sessions over the years). I cannot wait to see it all come together.
The “Sitter” Session
The 6-month milestone session is usually referred to as the “sitter” session. Not only is that a milestone to remember in and of itself, but around this time your baby is starting to show his/her little personality. They are laughing and interacting a lot more with you, and starting to roll all over the place.
We keep it simple so that your baby and their unique personality are the focus. That’s why you won’t’ find our studio in Houston Heights overflowing with props, backgrounds, and all the colors of the rainbow. Babies at this age are often entertained very easily with what’s around them or a small toy.
For that reason, I keep a variety of small, wooden toys for little ones. This gives them something to do with their hands and photograph well. Dylan loved the heart-shaped one and also found it doubled great as a teething toy!
I am excited to bring you along as we continue to watch Dylan grow. We will wrap up her baby plan with the next session- the first birthday!
