I have been a maternity photographer in Houston for almost 10 years and I love when families choose to do a studio maternity session. Traditionally, most people choose to do maternity sessions outside and while I love those, there is something so beautiful about the simplicity of the studio. It’s a beautiful, serene space that is perfect for celebrating the little one that will be joining your family soon.

Jennifer chose to do a simplicity session and have her husband and beautiful little girl join her. They are expecting a baby boy and wanted to have maternity photos to honor these last few weeks as a family of three. Big sister Lily loved kissing mom’s belly and could not have been any sweeter. I am so excited to see her step into her role as big sister when we photograph baby brother’s newborn session!

Wardrobe for Maternity Sessions in the Studio

Both Mom and big sister looked gorgeous in their dresses from the client wardrobe! Jennifer chose three different dresses and big sister wore two. I loved each of them and they all paired well together. For Dad, we kept it simple and neutral so he didn’t have any wardrobe changes throughout the session.

Styling your family can be stressful but it doesn’t have to be. If you’re going to be wearing multiple dresses throughout your session like this gorgeous Mom, we want to make sure that they are going to coordinate well together. Choosing more than one dress is a great way to add variety for studio sessions as well.

We also consider if you plan to do multiple sessions. While we don’t pick out every dress for every session at once, we do keep that in mind. The reason being, when we build your baby’s first-year album or create a beautiful gallery of artwork for your home, everything will be cohesive.
