This is not the image I had envisioned for this month’s blog circle. I waited until the last minute, just half an hour before dark the day before posts are due. I set up the tripod while as I heard my son waking up from his nap and my daughter was still sleeping. My plan was to hold my little naked baby up in the air above my head in front of this window as we smiled lovingly at each other.
Ya. That didn’t happen.
As soon as he discovered the wireless remote in my hand, he wanted nothing to do with me and only wanted to run around naked while pressing the button repeated by himself. Frustrated and with a looming deadline, I flopped down and then saw my daughter peeking around the corner. Once we made eye contact, she ran over to me and climbed up in my lap. My son, still with the remote in hand, snapped this sweet, simple image while running around the kitchen.
It isn’t what I had planned. Not even close. Not even with the right child.
But it is perfect.
A split second moment laced with honest emotion and real connection as my daughter snuggles in for a post-nap cuddle.
Its a moment I could have never planned for, but the exact one I want to remember.
Next up in this month’s Motherhood Collective blog circle is my friend CrystalB Photography.
