In the first two weeks, I focus on everything small. The weight of a newborn in your arms. The way their whole body tucks against your chest. The details of their face before they start to change – and they change faster than you expect.

Every newborn session at Fresh Light is a full studio setup. Wardrobe is provided. Posing is guided from start to finish. You don’t need to bring anything or figure anything out. I’ve been doing this for 14 years and I know exactly how to keep a newborn comfortable and calm throughout.

These are the images that families across Houston Heights and The Woodlands consistently tell me they treasure most. Not because they’re the most dramatic, but because they capture something that is genuinely gone within weeks.

Six Months: The Personality Arrives

This is the stage I love telling parents about because they often don’t think to book it – and it’s one of my favorites to photograph.

By six months, your baby is sitting up, looking around, and reacting to everything in the room. They’re grabby and giggly and expressive in a way that a newborn simply isn’t. The images from a six-month session look completely different from the newborn photos, and in the best way possible. You can already see who this person is becoming.

The six-month session is available as a standalone Signature or Simplicity session, or as part of The Collective. If you’re only going to do one milestone session beyond the newborn stage, I’d make it this one.

One Year: The Full Picture

The one-year session closes out the first chapter. Your baby is on the move, probably very opinionated, and full of personality that is impossible to miss. The energy in a one-year session is completely different from anything that came before it – louder, faster, and genuinely fun.

We can include a cake smash if that’s your style, or keep it clean and classic. Either works beautifully in our studio. The images from a one-year session tend to be bold and expressive in a way that makes them perfect for larger statement prints.

Why The Collective Tells a Story No Single Session Can

When families who completed The Collective comes to their final viewing appointment and sees all four milestone sessions side by side – maternity, newborn, six months, and one year – it’s always a moment. You can see the full arc of that first year laid out in front of you. Where you started and where you are now. That’s something a single session, no matter how beautiful, simply cannot give you.

The Collective membership is $700 and reserves your baby’s full first year with us. Most families invest $2,000 to $4,000 per milestone for their artwork and digital files. For families in Houston Heights, Katy, and surrounding areas who want a complete record of that first year, it’s the most meaningful thing we offer.
