Six months is such a fun age and trust me, Mom and Dad, it’s one of those milestones you don’t want to miss! Gone are the days of them just laying around, depending on you for absolutely everything you need. Now, their little personalities are starting to show. Your baby is gaining a little bit of independence (and opinions!), and honestly, they are just fun. I absolutely love this age as both a mom and baby photographer.
Planning for Your Six Month Sitter Session
We typically refer to the six-month session as the “sitter milestone.” For some, they may be sitting completely on their own and others may need a little assistance. Sometimes, we may even wait until your baby is closer to seven or eight months if they need a little more time.
Documenting this new milestone not only allows you to remember this time, but it opens up a lot of variety in posing for your baby. Sitting, laying on their belly or back, pushing up on their arms, etc.
Big smiles are pretty much assured, and your baby will have filled out and look a lot like the children they will become. And although they are getting bigger and bigger by the day, they aren’t quite mobile yet. Sessions after this tend to involve a little more running around for everyone!
Do you want to know what my favorite part about this milestone session is though? It’s how they look at you. The love they have (and start to show) for Mom and Dad at this age is the best. They like to cuddle and play and give big open-mouth kisses. It’s truly the sweetest and memories that every parent and child deserves to have.
Booking Your Session
The six-month sitter milestone session can be a signature session or a simplicity session. Meaning, you can choose to be in the photos with your baby and take advantage of all of our services: wardrobe, hair and makeup, session planning, design and installation, etc. or you can have the focus just be on baby. Don’t worry, we’ll still help you through planning and then what to do with their portraits.
Our calendar fills up at least 2-3 months in advance, so schedule before your baby is three months old. Or, you can join The Collective to ensure that your baby’s entire first year is booked in advance.
