One of the things I learned very early on as a Houston newborn and family photographer was just how important offering hair and makeup would be for my clients. Most moms don’t know how to do their hair and makeup, let alone have the time. Bringing Mom in before the session to be pampered means that she’s able to take better care of her family. This service, along with providing wardrobe, makes having your portraits stress-free and sets the tone for our session.

Hair and makeup is provided with all Signature and Collective sessions by one of the team members from Pink Palette Artists. They will be set up and waiting for you when you arrive at our studio in Houston Heights.

Prep + A Few Notes

Prep: arrive with clean, blow dried hair and a clean face with no products or SPF. SPF can create a white sheen on camera. For newborn sessions, hair and makeup will start at your session time while I work on your baby’s individual portraits. For all other sessions, you hair and makeup will start 1-2 hours before your session. Time will be communicated with you by Erica, our studio manager.

Our artists are very familiar with our work and the hair and makeup style that is generally done, but you are welcome to bring pictures or inspiration if you have specific ideas in mind. A picture of yourself on a day where you loved your makeup is a good idea to ensure our artists are on the same page as you. Every artist carries a fully stocked, professional kit with products for all skin tones. You do not need to bring any of your own makeup.

Most importantly, please be honest and open with your artist if there is something you don’t like or would like changed. They always ask for your feedback and approval before packing up and are more than happy to make adjustments to ensure you love your look.

I know that taking this time for yourself can feel selfish or unnecessary. It’s not, and trust me when I tell you that YOU deserve this time, Mom. You really do. I’ve had clients in the past that are hair and makeup artists and they still take advantage of this service. This is your time to sit back, relax, and let someone else take care of you. We got you, and when you’re done, we’ll get started photographing beautiful memories of you and your family!
