These outdoor family pictures in Houston were so much fun to photograph. I’ve photographed this family since their son was born, but this was our first outdoor session. We had the most beautiful golden sunset and despite it still being very hot out in early October, we had the best time. The kids were all smiles and we were able to document their sweet little personalities and the family portraits Mom wanted so badly.
With their dream home being built, Mom really wanted a display of family pictures on the big wall downstairs. I love the placement of this gallery because it’s a space they frequently walk through, allowing them to see their pictures often. Knowing that this what they intended to do with their portraits really allowed me to photograph their session with intention and execute Mom’s vision.
Family Session Planning
This is one of the many reasons that I offer a full-service experience for my clients that includes a planning session prior to the session. When we know the end goal, my team and I are really able to serve you well. The end result was beautiful, candid moments with their children, a beautiful brother-sister picture and an individual of each child that really showed their personalities. The thin gold frame paired perfectly with their family pictures and home to create the most beautiful gallery.
It also happens to be on-brand for Fresh Light Photography and a photo quickly made its way to our website!
Also included in the full-service experience are wardrobe and hair and makeup. For wardrobe, I tend to keep things fairly neutral. Knowing there were wood tones in the space where we would be designing their gallery, I made sure to incorporate some creams and browns against Mom’s subtle blue dress to pull it all together. And remember how I said it was really hot? It was…like sweat dripping, kind of hot. But you’d never know it because our professional hair and makeup team are so talented and know how to make sure it holds up!
As much as I love photographing families, there’s nothing I love more than being able to install photos of your memories in your home for you to walk by every single day. It’s important for you as parents and it’s important for children to see.
