One of the greatest joys I have as a Houston Newborn and Family Photographer is getting to watch a sweet little newborn turn into a one-year-old. It happens in the blink of an eye. Before you know your sweet little baby is starting to look like a toddler, and you’re stuck between wanting to freeze time and excited for all that’s to come!
It’s been particularly sweet documenting Ava’s first year. Over the last 8 years, I have photographed 16 full sessions, 7 Santa sessions, and every Mother’s Day event for this family. I have watched Ava’s two big brothers grow up and it’s been really sweet to see them with their baby sister. Working with clients for so long makes sessions a lot easier because there is no settling in period. Everyone comes ready to go and honestly, it just feels like the best reunion with friends.
One Year Session in Houston Studio
When Leslie and I started talking about Ava’s one-year session, she said, “I think this session should just be the two of us.” My heart exploded and I could not have agreed more. As moms, we are often the ones behind the camera capturing the day-to-day and rarely make it in front of the camera. I know because I’m guilty of it and I am a motherhood photographer.
Ava had the best time playing with one of the wooden stacker toys we keep in the studio. She snuggled her lovey, showed off her beautiful blue eyes and smile that will just melt you into a puddle. My favorite moment was towards the end of the session when she was getting tired. She curled up on her Mama and sucked her thumb. It was such a simple moment, but again, one of those memories you never want to forget.
Mama, you deserve pretty portraits. And I LOVE the idea of making sure that you have a special session with each of your children. These are the milestones that we will never be able to get back. And, Mama, I can guarantee you these are the stories your children will ask you about one day.
Please, do not leave room for them to question why you are never in the photo with them. And remember, it’s never too late. Contact me and we will make sure that you are able to hold onto your memories too.
