I cannot stop looking at the portraits from this family session in The Heights! It was one of those sessions that will stick with me because it encompassed everything that family photoshoots should be- fun, full of laughter and memories to hold onto for a lifetime.
The boys were super energetic and loved running around and exploring the park. Mom and dad rolled with it rather than getting stressed. The result was playful, relaxed images where everyone looked genuinely happy.
Trust me, I get it- I am a Mom of three I want my children to be on their best behavior too, BUT they are kids. I expect them to want to run around. I don’t expect them to sit there and smile at the camera for an hour straight, and you shouldn’t either!
Planning for Your Family Session
Before their session, Amberly and I talked about what she may want to do with their family portraits. This is something that not a lot of people think about, yet it’s probably one of the most important parts of planning. Doing this not allows us to think about the colors your family may want to wear, but it also allows me to photograph your family more intentionally.
Amberly wanted to fill a wall in her dining room, so we made sure to incorporate the blues and creams she has in that room so that the portraits feel cohesive in the space. She chose a floral dress that looked beautiful on her. We were then able to style the rest of the family with clothing from the client wardrobe. Putting Dad in a light blue button-down really pulled out the blues in the dress, and then we kept it really neutral for the boys.
I love how everything came together and more importantly, I love that the Lake family now has beautiful family portraits to look at every day!
You can have the artwork you’ve always wanted but didn’t know how to do or have the time for. And then while you continue to create family memories, our team will install the frames in your home for you to enjoy!
